Her usual days can be super long and tiring, therefore, she always makes it a point to squeeze in some light impact workouts whenever and wherever she can. She absolutely loves “Found Fitness” - a concept that revolves around moving and keeping the heart rate up when doing everyday chores. Hurley mentions, she doesn't like to stick to exercise or hit the gym on a regular basis, rather she prefers doing something other than the gym.
Housework to the win
Hurley's fitness routine starts the moment she gets out of bed. The trick is to keep moving at regular intervals. In an interview with Women's Health, she said that she begins her day by doing some squats while she's brushing, which helps her tone those legs and butt. Right after that, she takes her dogs for a 20 min walk to warm up her body and get the blood pumping. But her all-time, all-season, favorite calorie burning exercise is gardening. She enjoys it way too much!
Be it summer or winter, Liz spends most of her time having a good yard session, she states, it doesn't only make her feel better, but also leaves her super satisfied. Also, it gets the work done which is an even better thing. Basically, she likes investing her time doing the housework rather than going to the gym.
She understands the importance of mental health
Usually, Hurley has an extremely hectic schedule. Her mornings start somewhere around 5 a.m. and go on for hours and hours on end, meaning, she doesn't really get any time to relax and meditate. But when the pandemic hit, everything went on hold.
She constantly kept on thinking about her work, and pretty soon, it started hampering her mental health. She states, most of her life she's been on a run; she's been working for more than 30 years now. Sitting idle and having no work made her realize that she's not really a calm and relaxed person.
During this period of turmoil, spending some alone time all by herself was a total game-changer for her. It helped her become a more stable and focused person. She mentions, the pandemic has totally changed her perspective towards life. Now she values her time even more and prioritizes her mental health way too much.
